Art & Creativity
Have I mentioned that I’m a stick figure artist? I just wanted to get that out of the way in case you’re curious about art but also maybe a little scared or intimidated.
I don’t actually have any formal training in art. I don’t have a M.F.A. or any kind of certifications or diplomas around art making. BUT, what I do have is extensive training and experience as an art therapist and recognize the power of the art making process.
When you’re trying to give life to something and you just can’t quite figure out how to put your finger on it, the creative art process can be the key to unlock that door or move you through that block.
You do not have to be an “artist” to benefit from the process. Even if you’ve never picked up any art materials, you can still benefit from the creative art process because it’s just that, a process. There is no focus on any outcome at all.
All you need is to be open to gaining all of the benefits of art making including:
-
Decreasing stress and anxiety
-
Improves mood
-
Increase focus
-
Experiencing more harmony between your external world and your internal representation of self
-
Deeper connection to self
-
Building confidence
-
Increasing self-care
-
Moving through life with more ease
-
Having more fun and many, many more!
